The Conseil Départemental in the race with Cherbourg 2018 !
World University Sailing Championship. A prestigious name ! And this will take place in La Manche ! After Italy 2014 and Australia 2016, here comes Cherbourg 2018 !
Ever since they were created in 1963, France has organised 24 World University Championships, Only two sailing competitions took place in France : Quiberon 2002 and Nice 2012.
The Conseil Départemental de la Manche could not but share in this major sporting event where 40 crews of students from all over the world will compete for the title of World Champion.
First, our community supports the organisation of sporting events and competitions, in accordance with our attractiveness policy : they contribute to the fame and vitality of our territory.
Second, our Département concurs with the values and benefits of sport, and is convinced such a competition in La Manche will be a success.
Lastly, this event fits in perfectly with our plans to develop wind and sail sporting activities.
This world level sporting event is an exceptional opportunity for our Département, as well as a tremendous challenge to take up.
Let the port of Cherbourg and the whole of La Manche shine with this World University Sailing Championship, in this year of 2018 which will also host the sailing Tour des Ports de La Manche, the sailing Tour de France and the Drheam cup !
